I'll be traveling to Thailand in October for 10 days. It's my first trip to Thailand and I'll be heading there by myself. I've already done a ton of reading here and elsewhere about how to prepare so I think I'm good for the most part. I'm not going for a party, for me it's more about the adventure and finding some places to relax as well. The more I read about Thailand, the shorter 10 days seems. My question to you all is, what would you do if you only had 10 days in Thailand?
2 days in bangok 4 days in in koh nang yuan 3 days in phi phi another day in bangok.
Day trip to Ayutthaya - best thing I did in Thailand and wish I had stayed there a few days. The boat trip is particularly incredible. I booked it through my guest house, and most of the hotels on the Khao San rd offer it too. Enjoy!
I wont give you an itinery for the 10 days becuse i know you probabaly wont follow it! But i will say one thing, go to Chang Mai! You wont regret it and you can go see the elephants there it is amazing! Plus you can get a bus there from Bkk easy enough and its not too far, could even fly there if you fancy bit of "flashpacking"! Ha, have a look at www.gothailandnow.com for a list of good hotels at good rates for all over Thailand to help plan your trip, i always use them, they are very good. (other websites are available!)
Hope this helps
You could spend 3 days in Bangkok visiting the Grand palace, the Reclining Buddha, the floating markets etc. You could then head up to Kanchanaburi region and visit the Bridge over the River Kwai, the Death Railway and the Erawan waterfalls. You could then head up to Chiang Mai and do a jungle trek.
All the best,
Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pai and some beach time... if the weather is good - sometimes it will rain and be a bit off in the gulf of Thailand weather wise in October, but to be honest 10 days is just not long enough It is nice to take your time and travel slowly and take each place in.
I definitely realize there's far too much to see and do in 10 days but unfortunately it's all I could arrange.
Chiang Mai will be on my itin at this point because it seems a unanimously great place to see in Thailand. I'm not sure that I will head farther north from there because I think I would still like to catch a little beach time if possible.
