I'm not really sure yet, I want to see the fireworks at the harbourbridge, but after that I'm not sure. I heard the Rocks is supposed to ne nice and maybe something at Bondi...I don't know. Have you made plans?

not any firm plans..obviously the harbour bridge is a must but then i had in mind to head over to bondibeach party, but i dont know how logistical it is, and if you need tickets for the beach party or not?..but ideally that would be my plan, but like i said nothing set in stone yet.

Yeah, I'm not sure either if you need tickets for the party or not. But I guess when you get to Sydney you'll figure it out.

hiya guys, so ive found out about new years eve, to go and see the fireworks at the harbour its free, there are lots of vantage points you can go to but some of them doesnt let you brink your own food or drinks, others points are more familly based and others are for younger people...as for bondi beach party you need to purchase tickets. i talked to the hostel im staying with and they will be getting a number of tickets for all the different events going on in sydney on nye.

hey amelia, how are your plans going, are you nearly all ready to go?

Hiya,

That's cool then, do you know which vantage points may be the best to go to yet? Are you waiting until you get there before you get tickets for bondi etc?

My plans had kind of got to a stand still once I sorted the hostel. Need to get back to sorting things again now though! Starting to look into what I need to take with me and what I want to do when I'm there now though. Still 2 months to go, but getting sooo excited :)

Are you all ready? Do you know what you're taking with you yet? x

Hi.
I live just outside Sydney and like anywhere, it is very very busy in the city on nye so if you want to watch the fireworks at the harbour bridge, wherever you watch it from, get there REALLY early otherwise you probably will not get a spot. A lot of people watch it from certain parks in the city. Blues point is good but has a lot of underage drinkers so in terms of crowd its not always the best. It is going to be crowded everywhere you go so maybe once you book into a hostel meet some people and see what they are doing for it so you're not by yourself for nye. Manly is a bit less crowded (but still crowded lol) and has a smaller fireworks and is on the beach. and it just a fairy ride over to the city which is nice cause you go past the opera house and its pretty scenic.
When you go up east, you've probably already heard this but go to byron, its an awesome chilled out (hippy) sort of place on the beach, surfers paradise is also good to party in. I'm going up to byron for nye which should be fun :).. hope this helps. good luck.
Where are you from?

heya amelia,

i think i will just find out where the best place to see it is when i get to sydney, and see what they tell me at the hostel and where other pple from the hostel are going. im definetly doing the harbour firework display. i wanted to go down to the beach afterwords but i dont think its very practical to do both, so might just find a party in the city. i'll keep you informed if i make a definate plan.

im doing the same thing as you lol, ive just starting to get stuff for what i need to take over, im gonna just take a backpack, a few clothes, toiletries, many pairs of sunglasses lol, my ipod and camera and all the correct documents i need. i think im gonna buy a small laptop and phone once im out there, and anything else i need along my travels i can pick up out there.

i started on planning on things i want to do out there but ive decided just to list the kind of things i wanna do and where i wanna go, but not actually have a set plan or route, im just gonna go with the wind lol.

once i buy everything then yeah im ready to go....i justdont wanna wait till dec lol, i wanna go now.

hey are you on facebook? will be good to keep in touch and maybe meet up when we are both out there.

hi tully thanks for the advice, we're both from england.

hiya,

yeah I think that's the best plan to do really. Would love to see the fireworks and go to the beach party, but as you say it doesn't seem practical to do both and I think I would prefer to see the fireworks. I'm sure they'll be lots going on in the city after too. Like you say, will see what the hostel say and hopefully meet up with people.

Lol, yeah I keep buying things for Oz but then at the same time want to buy stuff for now here as the weather's rubbish, don't seem to be good at saving my money! I know, I can't wait for December it still seems too far away. A lot of people have gone over now or are going in the next few weeks, I just want to be one of them lol.

Yeah I will add you on fb. Will be good to carry on chatting and meet when we're over there.

Thanks for the help Tully, that's really helpful! :)
