I have just bought a Jalan 70 + 15 litre backpack, and it looks huge and thinking i have bought one too big!
i had a look in the shops and it looked ok, so i got one used but looks new for £100

would be nice for the extra little bit of room but cant see me filling it, im takin the usual plus netbook, some scuba fins and a scuba mask in a box, tho they are long fins they wont take up loads.

my trip is fairly unplanned just headin out doing what i feel with all my research doen before hand, but i cant see myself doing any trekking with all my gear on me, maybe a day trip out soemtime

Suppose i can compress it with the straps but is it worth the extra weight of the pack as it is heavy for what it is.

Lol, welcome to the club!

If you can afford it / have the time my recommendation would be to get a new bag and go a size smaller and sell the Jalan again.

:-), Brady, is it your 1st time?

For me, a lady, 55L is already enough. Man should be easier and lighter. We always say, you only need 4 t-shirts and 4 pants, LOL.
Too big a backpack actually became a burden as you travel long and far. It is better the mid size one and those you can lock so that when really want to do trekking or any heavy duty activities, you can lock it, leave it with the organizer.
