i planned a trip with my friend for graduation. things changed she hooked up with her friend, who was also going with us, and i decided not to be a third wheel and not go. she was furious. i was really hurt that she was angery with me. but im glad im not going, it could of have been worse i guess.

I tend not to travel with people. Part of it is because I am a bit of a loner, part of it is because I tend to go places my friends don't want to go, part of it is because I travel a lot for work and thus am not really on vacation and part of it is because travelling with people can be a pain.

Recently I did do a trip with three other friends down to Costa Rica. The first couple of days things went okay, but then we started to fall apart. The problem was that we had people who all wanted separate things from the vacation. I wanted nature in the day and lots of beer at night. Another friend didn't drink, and wanted to lie on the beach. The third guy drank all the time and lie on the beach. The fourth person wanted nature until about noon, and then lying on the beach and drinking until night. I wanted to stay longer in the mountains, everyone else wanted to travel to the beach.

About the fifth day in we finally had a big blow out. Things were better after that as we started to go off and do our own things instead of having to be together all the time, but I do know that a couple of the people on the trip have vowed never to travel again with some of the others.

Everyone, I think, still likes me.

Whenever I travel with someone else, it's usually a girlfriend ...

The biggest mistake was bring my last girlfriend along. Never doing that again. She was a constant pain in my arse! We broke up a month later.

When my sister got married a few years ago I was living in Boston. A friend I used to workout with asked if I was going to the wedding...in Sydney. I said yes and she asked if she could come along. We got on great in the gym...thought it might be fun. BTGW she's single, never been married.
We arrive in Syd. but needed to store out bags at the station..we were to get a train to the Blue Mountains but we had sometime to spare. While I was filling out the paper work she was just standing there..... while the porter was waiting for someone to bring the bags. I asked her if she could pass them to him while I was finishing up and she SNAPPED * all right all ready!!!* OH OH..that was just the start. She'd snarl at me when I asked if everything was OK...mum was concerned that she was eating and wanted to make sure she didn't have any diet restrictions. She snapped at a waiter because there wasn't any water on the table. Flying home she had the window seat...she put her feet up and wanted to use the arm rest of the person sitting in front of her. Each time the poor passenger would mover her feet... so he/she could use the arm rest, she'd kick her! She got really cross when someone opened the blind of a window...the sun was keeping her awake...so the flight attendant gave her blindfolds.... It was every little thing. was soooo stingy with her money. She had free accommodation and food the whole time at my parents.....
Never again!! Not with a single woman anyway..never married no kids that's for sure....

I've almost always gone travelling with people. I can't say I've ever had a problem to be honest. I quite like having someone to talk to and considering I'm usually not terribly fussed about what we do, I'm pretty happy to go along with whatever.

6 months with 2 good friends? I'm sure you'll have a great time :) Just be prepared for the occassional falling out - I think it's like that with anyone you spend a lot of time with (and consequently get to know a lot better!). At least when you get back, you will have the shared experience as well.
