A quick question about re entering Thailand. I left Thailand today and entered Laos by boat (speedboat which was quite an experience I can tell you!!)
I could have stayed in Thailand till 22nd Oct as this is when my Visa ran out.
Can I go back to Thailand before 22nd Oct by boat and get the 15 day Visa.
I am not sure I want to stay in Laos for long and want to go to Vietnam but don't fancy sitting on a bus for days on end. I would rather go back to Thailand, fly to Vietnam (Hanoi) and then travel through cambodia and back to the islands again. I just don't know if its possible
As soon as you crossed the Thai border your visa was cancelled. You will get the free 15 day visa waiver when you cross back into Tland. You could do that today or months from now.
I suggest you do as planned. Cross back into Tland, fly Air Asia to HAN. I flew this route years ago and it was around $75 one way. I encourage you to use the VN visa on arrival system. Cheaper and easier than buying a VN visa in Tland. My blog covers my flight into SGN 2 years ago. Once in HAN, I suggest you use the
open tour bus system to travel down to HCMC. Much cheaper and more convenient than using the train system. Or train for some legs, bus for others. The train is safer, bus is cheaper. Your choice.
I took the bus from HCMC to Phnom Penh. Easy trip now that the roads are better. You can get your Cambo visa on the bus. If you want to stay more than 15 days in Tland, I would get over to the Thai Embassy in PP and see about a tourist visa. That would give you another 60 days in Tland. Bus or boat up to Siem Reap. I suggest the 3 day pass for Angkor. 1 is not enough, 6 days are too many. Overland back to Tland via Poipet. Here is the best website for all things Cambodia.
Good luck with your planning.
I was also glad to ready your blog and see I went with the same company as you for your Visa on arrival at Vietnam.. I had heard some stories of scams on that one but its made me feel alot better about it :-)
