Hi all,

I am heading to Laos for about 3 weeks just after Christmas, flying into Vientiane on the 28th December. I’m planning on doing the normal tourist route north (Vang Vieng, Luang Prubang) and then considering going out to Phonsavan to see the Plain of Jars. Then I want to had down to the south of the country (Four Thousand Islands .etc.). I’m thinking of exiting the country and flying out of Phonm Penh at the end of the holiday, to avoid having to backtrack all the way back to Vientiene to fly out.

Firstly, does anyone have any comments about my rough itinerary (are the Plain of Jars worth it?). Is 3 weeks enough to see all this, without rushing? And does anyone have any advice to share about crossing the border crossing into Cambodia, or any alternative options to avoid backtracking?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

I'm going to the north of Laos the end of Nov myself. You might want to click on over to the travelfish.org Laos Forum - good stuff there too.
