Travel Forums Africa and The Middle East volunteering in Africa

I want to volunteer in Africa, preferably Ghana and have found several organisations but am not sure if they're good. I already had to withdraw from one programme. I'm thinking about Global Crossroad or Cosmic volunteers - orphanage programmes. Anyone had any good or bad experiences with either? How about Lean On Me South Africa? Am I better contacting an NGO direct?

Thanks

Dear Tashh,

Please what ever you do do not work with Lean on Me.
They claim to be doing good but I feel they use other peoples peverty to make money. PLease be careful who you use. I am not only saying this because I am in this industry, I believe that young people have saved up for years for their trip to South Africa and should be given the best holiday experience ever.
The other countries that you mentioned will also dom however SOuth AFrica has more opportunities and a better infrastructure if you want to travel the country after your volunteer experience.
Please contact me on my e-mail address if you would like more information.

hi... okay this is not for ghana... but we go to Guinea Bissau, which is not so far away.... and then Zambia or Mocambique :)
i am due to start a 14 month program with lindersvold - (6 months school, learning the things i need to know when traveling to africa, 6 months in africa, 1 month back at the school in denmark then 1 month at one of the other projects in india or south america or back to africa)
i've been here a little more than two weeks (i dont start the 14 month program until april) and i'm currently working in the office, talking with people who are interested in coming to the school - by doing this i reduce my school fees :) -
if u want to know more dont hesitate to mail me -snip-
