When I checked the web I found that a lot a vaccinations are recommended for Kenya and Tanzania, such as malaria, hepatitis A & B, rabies, etc. Are all these vaccinations really necessary or is it just an over statement?

Hi Nader,

It really depends on how much of a risk you are willing to take. Personally I think the cost of having these vaccinations far outweighs the cost of having treatment to attempt to fix the disease should you get it.

I recommend Malaria prophylactics and Yellow Fever as a minimum regardless of where you go and how you travel for East Africa.

If you are staying at a 5 star lodge and the chances of being bitten by a rabid animal is nil then perhaps there is not much point getting those jabs etc.

Hep A and C, and a Tetanus booster (if you haven't had one in the last 10 years) are good ones to get, Typhoid/Polio/Diphtheria and Cholera you should have had as a kid and should still be valid.

Really (with the exception of Yellow Fever) it is a personal choice, but I strongly recommend you see you closest travel clinic or GP for advice.
