Does anyone know about the best underwater camera today? I saw the thread on underwater camera, however that was last September, I was wondering if there are any new ones released today, and I am wondering which is the best of them. Any advices on which camera to choose from and pick out the best out of them? Thanks in advance.
Sorry, couldn't help it!
On a serious note, "the best" is always subjective. Are you talking about video or still photography ? How deep do you consider to be "under water" ? What's your price range ? What subject are you shooting ? etc. Would be helpful to maybe narrow down your criteria for "the best".
I used underwater cam with film during 8-9 years, but it seems now no one does. Last years i use underwtr my "dry" (digital) Olympus + housing. I'm pretty satisfied with it, but for now - its 5years old model, so no relevant. I know that i'd like it being a bit smaller, lighter and having bigger display. Come on, "the best" not only subjective, but it just cant b constant. U may call it "the best" today - until tomorrow morning new models and new technologies come into market. Changes come faster then u could update. For research - go into underwater photography online and compare results. They always mention which camera and other details.
Thank you for your thoughts, I will take note of what you have said. Their is truth that technology comes into the market so fast nowadays and is evolving everyday. In a matter of weeks and months the brand new device you just bought seems obsolete to the newer ones that just came out. Thanks again.
Just a follow up with these underwater cameras, does anyone have any experience with them? I had a Panasonic DMC-FT1 (DMC-TS1 in the US) and after working for about a year, took it snorkelling a few weeks ago and it leaked water. Alot of water. Not keen on buying another Panasonic, the reviews on the internet indicate leaking is a common problem so looking at either the Canon Powershot D10 which looks a bit like a toy but having had other Canon cameras can vouch for their quality or an Olympus but haven't had any experience with them... So, anyone own a good "tough" camera?
Fuji's XP 10 and 40 are great cameras, but I still prefer the old standby, the Nikonos V
underwater as in how deep?
a splash or 2m deep one or for the good stuff, it's usually a waterproof housing.
