Travelling solo from London to Sth Amer beg March 2011

Hi guys,

I am travelling on my own to Sth America at beg of March for 3 months. My boyfriend can't take 3 months off work (understandably) and a girlfriend I was supposed to be travelling with is proving unreliable. I'm a little nervous about travelling on my own, esp since my first stop is Rio when Carnaval is on so if you're heading to SA around the same time, get in touch as it would be reassuring to know like minded solo people will be in the same shoes!

My planned route at this stage is Rio -> BA (via Sao Paulo, the Iguazu Falls, Florianapolis, Uruguay, Montevideo etc) then up to Cartegena in Columbia, down to Lima (into Amazon for a bit), Peru, Bolivia. Chile (Mendoza, Santiago, Valpraiso, etc) then back to BA for some shopping, onto Rio then fly out back to London!

I have a return ticket from lima mid feb until end of may, doing a circular trip south to peru back through boliva then up to ecuador then back to lima.

Im also pretty worried about going on my own but im doing some volunteering so i can meet people.

Anyone else feel really unprepared?

I am also heading out to south america in March, Rio de Janeiro on the 1st of March to be exact, and am travelling on my own. This is the first bit of major travelling I've done and I am very nervous, I'd really like to find someone to meet up with before I get out there perhaps, just to have a bit of company!
