Hey Annie,

I agree with you on the farming side of things, I was basically gonig to figure all that out when I am in NZ rather than before.

I am staying with friends until I find my own accomodation too. The ones I have found are looking at between $150 and $200 a week, which is about $800 a month, about £400 a month, which to live in a city centre, is pretty cheap if you ask me.

They do get cheaper as you move further away from the central business district, however I was looking at transport costs in to the centre and it looks like it would just be worth paying a bit more for the rent and walking to work.

This is purely based on me working in the centre of course, however as I haven't secured a position etc, I am just looking as to where to find the information out from, so that when I hopefully do secure a role, I can jump on it straight away.

Social work hey, is that working with people who need assistance at home, or do I have the wrong end of the stick?

I'm from a recruitment background myself, currently working at Fujitsu as their Graduate Recruiter; I'd be keen to secure something in this area, however we shall see how it goes. There is alway the odd Admin or receptionist job out there with my name on it!

I have been in contact with some people about roles that are being created in preparation for the RWC and they havent confirmed how many they will need, but the hospitality industry should be taking on more people as well as bars etc. I personally havent done this sort of work before, but I am always keen to try new things.

Let me know how you get on with your job search

Hey Annie,

Well done on getting the phone interview!! ;)

I will defo keep you updated with the RWC jobs, basically heard that they are confirming head count for how many people they will need to take on etc.

I hope your interview has gone well and they come back with some good news for you!!

Citizenship hey! that is amazing, have you been before? this will be my first time in NZ and I'm really excited about it now!

I had a really good weekend thanks, thinking about what clothes I am going to take now. got my camea and things sorted out, however havent done travel insurance etc!!

Let me know how the phone call went, from the contact I have had with them, they are all really laid back and easy going, big difference from what I am used to.

Hope it went well

Hi All,

My partner and I are also planning a working holiday to New Zealand in May, we're currently finishing up a year working in Oz and really looking forward to seeing NZ!

We're not sure where to start now, we were going to start in Christchurch but not sure how that will work now since the Earthquake. Still keen to do the South island during the winter months tho to make the most of the snow!

Those of you interested in organic farming have you tried the WWOOF website? We've been wwoofing for 2 months in Tasmania and it's been such a great experience we've signed up for the New Zealand scheme too now.

Andy - where are you looking at jobs for the rwc? is it Aukland? I was thinking of looking for hospitality work in one of the cities in the run up but I'd be keen to hear about any official jobs.

Anyways hope all your plans are going well

Hey Carly,

The Jobs should be listed on the RWC website --- should you want to work for the RWC people of course. Skycity in NZ will be increasing their head count, I am in contact with them in Auckland, however they are looking in different places.

They will probably list the informaion on their website, however from what people have been saying, I should imgine that being in a city and wanting to work, would work well.

I hope that helps,

I have just spent the last 7 months working in Wellington, NZ on a years working holiday visa - great little country and love Wellington. It was tough to find a job though and took me and my gf around 2 months to get settled. I hear Australia and even Auckland, NZ have a lot more jobs.

We just liked the vibe and culture of Wellington more so came here!

Thanks for the link Danny that's a great website.

We were actually thinking Wellington would be a good place to stop as we could do the South island in the winter then stop and work in Wellington and then do the North island when it gets warmer, what's it like to live there?
