Your trip sounds fantastic. I might suggest skipping Geneva though, and going down the coast for Cinque Terre and/or the leaning tower instead. If you like history, Pompeii is worth a stop as well, and can be done as a day trip from Rome (although I think the train ride from there was about 3 hours...). I'd also recommend stopping briefly in Carcassonne between Barcelona and Nice.
thank you flutterby7, I will take that into consideration, I am still open to suggestions! i am trying to see how I can fit Greece and Croatia in, if possible...

You can catch a fast overnight ferry to Patras Greece from Venice, and then take the train down to Olympia or across to Athens (you can bus as well). It was about 4 hours if I remember right for either destination. It might be more time/cost effective to get a budget flight over though, I'm not sure. Either way, if you can make it to Athens you can go to Crete very easily on overnight ferries in both directions. With your schedule though, I'd suggest focusing on the areas you're going to be in than trying to get to Greece as well. It will save you time on trains/busses, and you won't feel insanely rushed. Another thing I might suggest is finding out if any festivals are going on in some of the cities you want to see around the time you'll be traveling.
wow a fantastic plan. I have got a job to quit. I might come for a long long vacation.
Hi Jasmine, Great plan I believe you will enjoy your journey. May I suggest the following, while in Lisbon attempt to visit Sintra and take a day trip to Conimbriga, one of Europe's great Roman archaeological finds and perhaps the best preserved in the Iberian peninsula.
