I'd travel the world, backpacking of course with the thought that a splurge on something wouldnt matter at all!! Knowing financially that the interst will pay for you to be a full time traveller.
What would you do???

I'd travel too, and depending how much I won, I'd buy a small flat in the UK somewhere, one in Europe and one in Australia and then I'd continent hop...

I actually have a fear of winning the lottery. What happens to your life if you suddenly have $50 million? How can the relationships you have with the people in your life ever hope to stay the same...? Not, of course, that I'd refuse the money or anything...

We have this lotto ticket here called "Gagnant a Vie" - winner for life. If you win, you get $1,000 a week for the rest of your life. Now THAT I'd like to win. Enough to feel stable and get out and travel without worries, but not enough to make one a money glutton.

So, yes, I would travel too! And splurge now and then. It would be nice to not have to balance a fixed budget now and then!

Gagnant a Vie/Win for Life, would be great, but I wouldn't turn down 30 million either ;) If I won either, I would continue working my main reporting job for fun...but I would quit working all the other odd-jobs I do at the station. I stay working for a few years to gain more job experience. All the while I'd pay off bills, renovate the house for my mom (and pay off her bills), get my own condo downtown, do some fun stuff with my friends, etc, etc. I'd invest most of it so I could live off the interest so I wouldn't HAVE to work (even though I probably would so I wouldn't get bored). Also do the charity thing and stuff.

Fast forward two years ahead...I'd quit my job, travel the world, get that place in France I've always dreamed of, and take it from there.

Hmmm, maybe I should go play the lotto!

Katie ;)

depending on the amount well with a huge win - obviously i'd travel for a few years, pay of my sisters and brothers mortgages, buy my Dad a Harley, spoil my niece ( and future nieces / nephews)..... go crazy for a few years really ... throw a huge party for my friends ( of course TP would be invited ;) ) give some to charity, buy a boat for my boyfriend and I to live on and basically see what happens...... for a small win well i won £75 when I was 18, I went out for the night and spent it in the pub and nightclubs........ummmmmm the result - dodgey photos....

Agree that the "Gagnant a Vie" thingy would be much better, although to be honest 1000 a month (not week) would be better, or even a lump like 20k a year instead of 1000 a week. Probably wouldn't say much or anything to anybody, or very few.

The 50mill or one huge win thing scares me as well, although as i don't play the lottery it's unlikley. Would probably stay annoymous, put a chunk of half a mil/mil in an account to live/travel essentially off the interest, and then the rest would probably split and put a chunk away for a while (a 5 year account, for example, whilst i try and come to terms with it all and decide what the feck to do), donate a large amount to some charities, and a smallish chunk used quietly on friends/families without being extravgent or giving anything away as to th real amount i have.

Probably wouldn't change my lifestyle etc too much except maybe the odd blowout, and the possibility of maybe picking up some furniture (i have none except a bed, and i don't even use that).
