Taking a guitar

Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Taking a guitar

Hi
I've read everywhere that the less you take the better your travelling experience will be. I really want to take a guitar as i spend all my time playing, as does the person im travelling with. Is this just a really bad idea and we should learn to go without??? has anyone else tried to travel with one? We are doing most of South America, and then New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong. Any advice etc would be great.
Thanks

Consider you might take souvenir back home and a guitar is a pretty fragile thing. Airlines sometimes just don't care.

i bought a cheap guitar to take, so i wouldnt be too bothered if it was damaged... im just wondering if its not worth having that extra bulk to carry around

it could be entertainment, a way to meet people, earn money busking if you end up broke.......... if you don't mind carrying it and both of you do like to play then why not !!!

yea thats a good point.
I think i'll stick it out for as long as possible, otherwise i'll probably regret it.
cheers!

Have a great time.... if the worst comes to the worst do some busking to earn the money to post it back...... or if you really don't care about it , well sell it on....
