In March myself and a 6 others are heading around Europe, hopefully: Barcelona, Rome, Alps, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam and then Paris.

I'm trying to book a hostel in Rome but whenever I go to book I get the itinery of our stay and halfway thru the week the price increases at every hostel I've tried, does anyone know why this is?

Some places charge more on weekends, others charge more for extended stays (up to a certain point before it gets much cheaper), some charge more in summer/high season or around festivals. But you should'nt have a problem finding places in any of those cities where the price doesn't change. Check to see if there's anything special happening in Rome at that time, and try putting dates around it/excluding FRi/Sat nights to see if that makes any difference

Idiot. (me). Sorry, if your booking for late in March, it will be Easter holidays, so will be much more expensive in some places as all of a sudden there is alot more demand for beds, and bearing in mind Italy is fairly religious and people foten travel, that may well be why...

I can confirm that in Italy there is a low / high season during which prices change. Easter and Xmas are considered high season - book well in advance.
