2010 was the year my 12 month Oz WHV finished. Spent some time in Thailand to break up the return journey after an amazing year seeing a beautiful country.

In 2011 I will be visiting the US, vaguely planned as - NYC -> New Orleans -> Vegas -> LA/San Fran -> Chicago -> Home. Hoping to stretch this over 4-5 weeks around June/July/Aug with around a week in each destination.

I'm considering a trip to Argentina sometime in 2011! Planning has just begun, but I'm super excited for it!

in desert(s) have you been to? I would love to experience that feeling. One can probably get a similar sense when visiting natural wonders like Grand Canyon, the Iguazu Falls.. or hiking to Everest base camp. That would also be amazing!:)

Quoting Utrecht

Had a stopover in Dubai: one of only a few disappointments in travelling so far...

Totally agree - my only travel disappointment so far too!

Last year I made it to Samoa for 5 days and had a trip back to the UK which doesn't really count as travelling!

This year should be better on the travelling front; I have a weekend in Brisbane planned later this month and a 15 day tour of Chile and Bolivia sorted for April and May. I might try and get to one of the Pacific Islands in winter again (Vanuatu possibly) and as my annual leave allowance will start again in September it would be rude not to plan another trip for sometime around then too! I'm not sure where yet but I have a few places in mind...

Of the several trips I did on 3 continents (Europe, N. America and Africa), the best trip for me was the one I've just got back from - hiking in the English Lake District.
Quite diverse weather. Well below zero some days and walking on ice that felt like solid slippery glass - and other days glorious sunshine, just above freezing (still plenty of snow, but softer on foot) and a bowl of home made soup with a locally brewed pint at 2,000feet - before moving on. Wonderful.

My wife and I want to be able to go to Oktoberfest this year. Also it would be nice if we could visit Portland, Oregon.

What language are y'all going to learn to fulfill your new year's resolution this year? There are many.

Happy New Year!

I'm still learning Bulgarian.
I'm up to reading and writing the alphabet fluently - and stringing together small sentences. I'm getting there, albeit at snail pace.
