I am a 22 year old girl, and I just graduated from the University of Colorado! I decided to go to OZ alone for 4 months. I leave in less than two weeks and I have no plans which is very nerve-wracking for me too! I am so excited, but I don't know where I am going to live or anything. I got my work and holiday visa just in case i wanted to get a job while i was there.
Let me know if you or anyone wants to talk about the trip!

I am a 25 year old Australia female from Brisbane.
If you are planning on flying into Sydney and going up to Cairns (which I would recommend as the correct direction to go) stop at Byron Bay for sure, its beautiful all year round. When you get closer to the north of Queensland - stop at Airlie Beach for some backpacking good times and use Airlie as the base for your Great Barrier Reef touring/snorkelling experience.
I haven't seen the sun since New Year's Eve it is HORRIBLE here at the moment, we are having the worst floods since 1974 and it has rained constantly for 10 days. It will be cleared up by the time you (all) get here. At the moment, you cannot drive up the east coast of Queensland in parts due to flooding.
I'm sure that you have heard before but a reminder - DO NOT any circumstances hitch-hike or take a ride from a stranger in Australia. EVER!
