I have read a few threads over the last few days and found this community very freindly and helpful.
This is my first post.
I have my first round the world trip starting in next year. The flights I have booked are:
London - Bangkok
Singapore - Cairns
Sydney - Auckland
Auckland - L.A
New York - London
I have unlimited changes to any flights as I wish but must return to London within a year. I am planning to travel most countries in SE Asia Mainland, the East coast of OZ. Both islands in NZ and hopefully finish with a road trip accross the US.
I was hoping for any advice on the trip as a whole, especially with how much time I should be roughly spending in each area. I want to make full use of the year, and dont want to have moved on from certain places and realise that I could have spent longer there, on the other hand I dont want to arrive in the US with too short a time and end up rushing or being forced to take a domestic flight.
Any Help appreciated cheers guys
Hi from AUS,#
If travelling by car from cairns please remember that it is a really long journey! but doable.
While in cairns probably 5days no more, travel to port douglas and take a tour of the great barrier reef!
Then down to Brisbane, 3 days
Then gold coast 3 days, then sydney,
Sydney 10 days. I say ten days casue you can go southto canberra, also east to blue mountains, and you will need 4-5 days travelling sydney.
I do recomend tat you think about going to Melbourne for 10days. Virgin blue, tiger and jetstar all have very cheap airfares. Train takes about 14hrs, and the bus is even longer than that.
While in melbourne discover the yarra valley, grampians, ballarat, great ocean road, yarra river, eureka sky deck, MCG and the city centre, home to great food and markets
Cheers Asho maybe grab a beer while im in OZ?
Depending on when your in the states next year we are going across ending up in New york hit us up!!!
In SE Asia don't spend less than 2 weeks in any country. If you do you you will miss a lot of awesome stuff...
Ahhh nice one cheers guys. Where abouts in Cambodia are you rasheed? i noticed you mentioned showing people around in other threads?
Banlung, Ratanakiri, in the northeastern corner of the country... a very nice place to live and to visit.
