I'm looking to plan a trip to St. Andrews. I would be traveling from the U.S. to London and then I'd like to take a train from London to St. Andrews (or as close to St. Andrews as possible.) My plan is to take my father for a few days to play a couple of rounds of golf and to walk the Old Course on a Sunday afternoon.
Is traveling by train the best option? Of course, we'll be bringing along our golf clubs. Will this pose an issue when going by train?
Any and all help, tips and details would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
There is no station at St. Andrews. Leuchers is the nearest station - about 5 miles away.
You will be better off getting a flight to Scotland - rather than London, if your plan is just St. Andrews. It's a long way - over 400 miles - and unless you buy a rail ticket in advance, your fare will be expensive.
You cannot do a round of golf at St. Andrews, unless you are member or an invited guest of a member, if you don't book a round ages in advance.
it also cost a fortune to play there if u can get a round.
personally i've driven it from london, but it's a long drive to do in 1 day and you're better off splitting your journey over 2.
