1. Arizona-Utah circuit, taking in Monument Valley, Moab, Arches NP, Bryce Canyon, etc, etc
2. Rapid City, SD, to Yellowstone, Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Cody, Devil's Tower & Yellowstone
3. San Francisco to Phoenix, AZ, via Death Valley, Las Vegas, Route 66, Grand Canyon, Lowell Observatory
4. Los Angeles to Vancouver, for a bunch of good reasons already mentioned
5. Chicago to NYC via Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Elmira and trigger happy NY State Troopers with speed guns as you cross the border into NY State and the speed limit drops unexpectedly, in the autumn, including the rental drop-off at the southern most tip of Manhattan

A combination of beauty, adventure and trouser-filling fear...

Good list. I'm familiar with all with the exception of parts of #1 and #3. I'd really like to see Death Valley. A good friend, who has traveled virtually everywhere, once said Death Valley was his favorite place.

All this talk of Hawaii--and the hidden away spots in the southwest that I'm going to half to think real hard about my next trip choice. (Big Island of Hawaii--where I've never been; Kauai--where I missed the entire last trip because I was in the hospital; or Yellowstone again for some camping or hiking--or overseas to London next December for some Christmas shopping--or back to Puerto Rico to make my wife happy by visiting the beaches and rain forest.) And I know she's up for South America--maybe 2014 in Brasil and World Cup???

Choices, choices.

The World Cup is in Brazil in 2014? Oh man, talk about a crazy time.

He Cal, where did the woman from Santa Fe go? LadyMac...something or other.

Ladymacwil was her handle (real name I won't divulge here to everyone without her permission--but if I recall, she was a former British model and moved to Santa Fe with her husband after her career ended overseas;--don't know if she was still modeling locally in New Mexico).

Haven't seen her on the site lately (for about the last 14 months)--but maybe she's been busy either traveling or hosting parties in Santa Fe. I miss seeing her on the site--and feel bad that my wife and I didn't connect up with her the last time we were traveling through Santa Fe last May. We were only there for one night, though--and didn't even know for sure originally if we would be passing through there--which is why I didn't connect prior to arrival.

My loss, though, I'm sure.

As I recall, she gave you a lot of great advice about stuff to do and see in New Mexico. Don't know if you two ever were able to meet.

No I made no attempt to meet her. We had just "met" on this site a few weeks before our trip and I didn't want to put her in a tough spot by suggesting it. Sorry she isn't around any more, I like her, but maybe as you say she's been busy traveling.
