hello! i am currently studying abroad in hong kong. a bunch of my peers and i are considering travel to the philippines for 2 wks. our agenda as of this moment is to fly to manila and then to boracay. we would be staying in manila for a total of 3 nights. i am concerned about the supposed current political unrest there. i just checked the us govt website and the words 'insurgency' 'terrorism' 'bombings' were particularly alarming. is this an overexaggeration? should we perhaps change destinations? i would greatly appreciate it if someone could please provide me with some verifiable and accurate up-to-date info!!! i would appreciate an email if possible [email protected] thank you!!!

I've had people warn me about machine guns, and all sorts of things I fly to Manila tomorrow. If you don't see me post any thing more on TP within say, seven days ... then assume the worst.

I arrived this afternoon (Saturday) in Manila. The airport is very well controlled, fairly quiet and absolutely safe. Security guards carry guns around town, but overall evrything is very peaceful and civilised here.
