Flutterbug has indicated that this thread is about Peru

Hi!

I am hoping to spend 3 months to 1 year in South America with my 8 year old daughter. We're no strangers to travel and have just spent 5 weeks travelling Africa on a self made plan, staying as close to local life as possible (including living amid the Masai, staying on a Wildlife pathway and staying in a shanty town). My daughter thrived and has really caught the travel bug.

Can anyone help me out with any of the following please? ;

(Anywhere in South America considered)

Cheap accomodation (even lodging or house sitting)

A way to get involved in local life

Schooling (maybe)

Voluntary work (or ideally, paid work) that we could do together (maybe I could work at a school which my daughter could attend)

An idea of food costs

Thankyou very much

Hi

Here in Peru, the food is really cheap ( and generally very good ), its easy to find a complete course menu for 5 soles ( 1,50 Eur )

There are cheap hotels from 20 soles/night.

For the local life and voluntary work , you can try to contact http://www.aldeayanapay.org/ , they work with local poor childs.

They wont pay you, but the work can include cheap lodging in cusco.
