haha char, indeedy! nope never done it solo, in fact new to the whole thing but have been talking the talk for many years, and this year i am finally walking the walk!

i too am doing OZ wanting to be in sydney for new year then going to wing it in a clockwise route I think... trying to keep warm :-) .. seen enough snow/cold in the last few months to last a life time lol, bout you?

Quoting boldywoldy

:)

I'm in Lincolnshire and want to go as soon as i can, but i really don't think i'm brave enough to go it alone! :).

How much do you think i need to save for flights, visas etc??

Seriously.....having the balls to go alone is ace! I was actually glad I did Thailand on my own rather than travelling with someone. It was so much random brilliance.

I have been quoted about £1150 for a round the world ticket stopping in Bangkok and then going Melbourne with a return to Manchester next year. and that includes my working visa. Flights were about £950. Think if you are going direct to Oz you could get a return right now for about £650ish?

To James - I was researching into a few things but not haven't too strict an idea of what i'm doing.

To petenico - Thanks. The more people i talk to that are all enthusiastic about having done it before and alone the more confident i feel about doing it.

No problem. Just saying it as it is. And it just so happens that a bit of travelling is the dogs!

I'm going out to aus from july until august and by backpacking and staying in hostels or couchsurfing you'll meet people who are in the same boat as you so it shouldn't be too hard to talk, it is england where you pretend to read adverts as to avoid eye contact with anyone else :)

yes I found being in Thailand a whole lot more friendly than being out in England! haha
