Hi all:
I'll be flying from Pittsburgh to Vietnam with the following itinerary:

Pitt to Newark: 8:30AM - 9:55AM
Newark to Tokyo: 11:05AM - 1:25PM
Tokyo to TSN (Vietnam): 5:30PM - 9:30PM

All are with Continental Airlines.

There are a couple of things I need to ask before my flight:

1. Where should I clear customs and immigration? Newark or Pittsburgh? If Newark it is, then do you think I have enough time to make it to the next flight?

2. Do I need to check out my bags at Newark and clear them thru custom like I did in the inbound flight?

Otherwise, I would have to change my plan then. Please help me, thank you very much

You'll clear customs in Newark. (P.S. You don't have a choice of doing so anywhere else).

The time is definitely tight, but if your flight is on time and in the same terminal, you'll be okay as long as you aren't doing this doing a peak travel period (like July 4th or over the Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays) If you want to do it then, you'll need more time.

Yes, you'll need to reclear your bags at Newark, just like on the inbound flight.

If it were me, I'd get an earlier flight from Pittsburgh to Newark (like a 6 AM flight). Then I wouldn't worry about making my connection to Tokyo.

Enjoy

Why would he be clearing customs and immigration at all leaving the US?
