Hello!! Yes I have a couple of questions!! I am doing RTW and I was just wondering how easy it is to get accommodation (if atall) in Rio around carnival time (Feb 4 2005) I am thinking about going around this time!! I have also heard something about a black and red ball or something - what is all the events that go on, who would I contact and how early would I have to contact these people???!! I appreciate any information given!!

Thank you

Hello,

I heard that you are going to go on your RTW trip to Rio de Janeiro, my favorite city in Brazil.
As February is Carnival time and all the tourists will be there I advice you to book accomodation as soon as possible, because normally hotels and hostels get overbooked around that time!
If you tell me a little more exactly when you plan do be there and about what you want to spend, then I could give you more advice on this!

Ah, yes, there are some Carnival balls in famous hotels around Rio, one of them is the "red and black" one in Flamengo.
Read more about the Carnival balls here:
http://www.ipanema.com/carnival/balls.htm

If you need any other advice about Brazil (not only Rio) please do not hesitate to ask me!

Greetings
Evelyn

Hello Rach,

yes, "de nada" for the webpage-link...I could give you many others (but I am not sure to post them here, it is allowed???) on Rio and it's Carnival.
Also, I do speak portuguese fluently (as my mother was born in southern Brazil) and understand maybe a little spanish also.
And if you have any question regarding the Carnival in Rio (or other parts) I can definitely help you..
have already been twice to Rio's Carnival and participated also into samba school parade!
So just let me know!

Greetings again
Evelyn

Hi isabela, my name is Enrique and I was highly surprised to find someone with the same last name.

My name is Enrique Yanatelli and I can tell that my last name is totally uncommon and in my country there is only my family that have it.

And it is even more amazing that you are in Rio because I have relatives (uncles and aunts). My uncle's names are Sabino and Ernesto and My aunts are America....

There is so long time that I haven't heard about them!!!!!

It would be very, very interesting to have an answer to this inimaginable, fantastic, totally unespected and highly amazing coincidence to know if you know my relatives in Rio.

Yuo can e-mail me to enriqueyanatelli@yahoo.com

or here, thanks for anything, and please write.

Enrique Yanatelli

Hello All!

I will be in Rio for Carnival. Man I can't wait!! I'am will be landing in Sao Paulo for the day and venturing to Rio the next. Anyone can provide a bus company info ? I'am looking for a fast and comfortable. Trains are cool too!

Also, after Carnival I will venturing off to the Iguassu Falls(for 3days). Is it better to stay in the foz de iguacu area or in Sao Paulo ,making the Falls a day trip? How far is Sao paulo to the falls anyhow?
