Hey Caz, Nicky.
We wanted to stop off in america for a few days ( Los angles) connecting flight to oz,
but it seems we would have to pay around £1100 where as if we stop off in "kula lumper" (connecting flight) its about £799rtn or about £500 one way. Im gona look into at getting an open ticket or round the world ticket, i think you can stop off in 3 or 4 different countries for about £1200?. When i was in new zealand, air new zealand have deals of the week, there really cheap i cant remember the prices but it was relatively cheap to go to oz or fiji, from nz, just need to keep checking when your out there. Also i think "virgin blue" do the same in oz.
I think its a bit dawnting for anyone to do it by themselves, i have quite a good job and am in 2 minds weather to quit it or not! but work is work! one door closes another opens! although thats not the case at the momment here in the uk! there all closing with a massive padlock on the door! lol, so oz for me is the way forward
Nicky, thanks for flight details, i just had a look that is alot cheaper than what ive seen so far.
Are any of you on the book of face!?
I'm flying out to Sydney in August. Decided I was going to leav my job this past December and look towards travelling around Oz for August. Got my working visa sorted out and cant wait to go (although need to save money like crazy before I go)
Haven't got a definitive route planned at the moment. It will probably seem more daunting nearer the time but from everyone I've spoken to who've done something similar in the past then it is a no brainer and it will be a fantastic experiance.
I'm on facebook if anyone wants to chat about their travels to Oz (Adam Humphries), e-mail address is anh1987@hotmail. co.uk
I'm bout to move to Sydney but sooner than u all (less than 2 weeks!) but in same boat, don't know anyone & goin alone. However i'm leaving from NZ so is a lot closer! As far as flights go it's def way cheaper to book from within the country than from the uk, & sta travel is NOT the best option for australasia - if u have to go thru a booking agency use house of travel, they're cheaper & have no fees (that they take from u personally) if u book on line. Air nz has a partner line called grabaseat which do awesome domestic deals (like $50 from any main town to any other & north to south island) but usually it's seat only no checked luggage & travel period will be for 1-3 months in advance, & they sell out fast. But the deals go up every day so u'l find one.
Good luck with all ur travels!
Hey Boycey etc.....
Humm ya I'm now wondering if a one way is the way forward......agh my head is a mess - can't come to a decision on route or or ticket!
I'm under Caz Hughes on facebook (the one with my arm around a NZ rugby player!) or if you can't find me send a message on this.
