Sounds like your organised and going to have a ace time!

Yeah I was thinking the same, I hope Oz is as good as I expect it to be. A girl in my work is there just now. She went traveling about 2 years ago and didn't want to come home, but had to, so now shes back for a holiday. Must be good!

Snap on the camera, I got exctly the same for my xmas :)

Yeah I've never heard anyone who's been there say a bad word about it so my expectations are pretty high, but I'm sure I wont be disappointed! I have a trade that OZ have on their list for being able to permanently stay there, so if I like it that much then I could always go down that route, have to wait and see :)

Add me on Facebook and then you will be able to see all my pictures of America :)

The company I work for is Australian, never know, they might take me on over there Have you given up your job?

Ah yes, first one on the list!

36. Posted by Scotty87 (Budding Member 27 posts) 6y

Yeah that would be a great if they offered that to you, you should mention that to them before you leave, they could then be a sponsor for you!
I leave my job on the 28th, so I've got a week and a half left :) can't wait to finish working, that's when my adventure starts :)

Does your work know your going yet?

I told my work last week. There is no way I could have kept this to myself until a month before I left... My boss has done the same thing to he's gave me some great advise which is always good! I'll leave about a week before I fly I think.

It's going to be time for you to go before you know it!

Hopefully my visa will be applied for this week, I asked them to do it ASAP... will just be happer to know it's done.

I just noticed this thread getting all these posts and came here to read up and find out what was going on.

Can I just say, that reading your little discussion has made me really excited for all of you off on your travels. You have so many life changing adventures ahead of you. Never give up and never stop.

Its also brought back so many memory's of when I first left home in the UK. I was 19 and wanted to go explore the world. I had a half brother living in the US that Id only met a couple of times, but he invited me to go see him and his family in Pennsylvania and that was all the reason I needed. I told my parents I was just going for 2 weeks, but really I had intentions to keep going as long as I could. Back then you only needed to buy a one way ticket and getting in the US was much easier. On the morning I left, my mom said goodbye and went off to work as usual, not believing or in denial that I was going for longer. My brother was walking to the train station to catch his train to work, and I walked with him to catch my train into London with my new backpack bulging on my back. I think my Dad knew I'd be gone for longer. I probably got my travel bug from him. At 16 he left England and traveled to New Zealand. He traveled by ship and it cost 50pounds! Unfortunately the 2nd world war broke out after only 6 months in NZ and he joined the air force. He got the rest of the his travel paid for by the government, but in return rather than meet interesting people to chat with, he was required to drop bombs on them. I grew up with his travel stories and hearing about NZ. After 25 years in the US I finally remembered the dream of traveling the world. So set off yet again to finish what I started. Its still an adventure and I love every minute of it. My mom when I speak to her still asks when I'm coming home.

Hi Dodger,

That is such an interesting post! I love to hear people's stories of their travels, makes me all the more excited!

£50 to NZ by boat, that is crazy! I wish things were still that cheap these days... I'm saving like mad! 2 jobs, but will hopefully be worth it once i'm out of the UK seeing the world :)

I have just over a week before I fly when I finish work, which will give me time to see everyone and sort everything out :)

My visa was accepted after 2 days so it didn't take long at all but I don't know if it was just quick cause I had the Australian expert sort it all!

Thanks for the add on Facebook, I will talk to you on there when I see you online :)
