I'm heading to new york for the first time. first thing is accommodation, some advice would be appreciated.
And how about the music scene, which are the best venues for a musician?
Where are those open mic sessions and which bars gives the best jams?
All help will automatically participate in a "free hug" competition!
Free hugs reminds me of this jackass episode; not pretty
In terms of accommodation, I can say from the booking numbers here on TP that Jazz on the Park is by far the most popular hostel. I've never stayed there but it looks like a party (and it's very cheap for NY!)....
What is your budget?
ps. mind you, the way the dollar is going, everything in NY is looking cheap for Euro folk at the moment
New York has an amazing music scene. You can literally walk around the city and find all kinds of clubs and great venues. Here's some web sites that will give you some options.
hope that helps! have fun. New York rocks.
Thanx or your help,
those links were really good
my budget is something like 20-30 bucks a night, but i would go great lenghts to get it even cheaper (even though that might not be possible).
i enjoy hostels which are not just a few nights stop-overs...
check out hostelworld.com
also check out CBGB's not sure if i spelt it right but it's at the very end of bleeker. anyone can tell you were to go. apparently it has great live music most nights. didn't go myself but passed it by and vowed to go in next time i'm over.
