That s maybe bcause I already 'was' in Reims at the time you looked at the map? 8 february in your time zone?
I made a new entry and now it shows Reims with a star in the zoomed map, so that is correct following the stops of the map
the top map is still without star.

I'll try again for the line color, but before I could see the color 'button' but could not change anything
thanks for your help peter!

Oh yeah, you're probably right on that. I guess I just didn't see the Reims star because it was zoomed in and cropped so it wasn't showing! Yeah, so it will be using the viewer's date to check the current location. Not perfect I guess, but considerably simpler

Not sure what could be the issue. I tested it all the way through just then and it worked ok. Could be a browser specific issue. Let me know which browser (and version) you are using if you still are having trouble changing the colour.

Hi Peter,

Sorry for answering this late, but the problem with changing the colour of the lines on the map is on a Internet Explorer 8 (version 8.0.7600.16385) which we use at work. I can't click on the square to change the colour. But with my android 2.1 smartphone I am able to change the colour.

Do you think the change you talked about concerning the text under the map which says 'here I am at this moment' will be made soon?

One more question. On the travellerspoint blog we actually will use for our trip (linked to this user name), I have put the setting on 'show the map on each page'. This map is zoomed out a lot, even in that way that some of the continents are showing twice on the same map. Is it only like that with the map I use, or is that a general thing? Isn't it possible to zoom in the map on top of each page a bit more, so that it shows the continents once and gives a general view of the trip?

thanks a lot for all your support!
Linn

Hi Linn,

The developer for the maps project is going to be away this next week, so not much will happen really soon. Obviously bugs also take priority over features, so the first thing to be fixed is more likely the colour selecting problem than the addition of "current location" information under the map. Not to say I don't want to see it happen, just that there are other higher priorities.

I see your point about the default zoom-level on that map. It's not how it should be. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's normally zoomed in one level more than that by default, so not sure how that came to be with your specific trip.

Hello again Peter, the map on our blog is struggling again with the location.
We are in Rio (this time for real) but the star still shows brussels as our location.

We are also encountering problems with the comments on the entries. They dont show correctly, some comments are not published even after we approved them. And is it the purpose to actively approve all comments before they are published???

Can you please have a look at this?
Thank you very much!
Linn

Hi Linn,

Hmm, will have that looked into again. From what I can tell, it should be showing the star in Rio in your situation.

I had a look and there are 4 comments posted on your latest entry:
http://linnenjohanna.travellerspoint.com/5/#comments

I compared that to how many in total have been left and it matches. Can you maybe give me a specific example? Or maybe you were looking at the main page of your blog? The comments will only show on the actual entry's page.

Regarding approving comments - this is only necessary for people who aren't members of Travellerspoint. And once their first comment has been approved, any new comments from the same email address will automatically be let through.

Hello Peter,
The comments problem is solved, all of them are showing.
The map is still with a wrong location...is there a solution for that?
Thanks a lot!
Linn

Hi Linn,

I'm chatting with Li, our mapping developer, at the moment. Let me ask him about this :)

Hi, Peter. we're still travelling and still unable to have the "star" locate us:(

Hi, Peter. we're still travelling and still unable to have the "star" locate us:(

I just had a look and it's starred Yangon, Burma on your map, which seems accurate.

I think there was a gap in your days though. Your trip looks like this:

Phuket: 18 Mar - 18 Mar
Yangon: 20 Mar - 22 Mar

So the 19th of March was unaccounted for, which would explain why it didn't star anything for you. I guess we could assume that you were in Phuket, until the next date is reached. Will have a look into that.
