Hi, I am going to Spain to study in a couple of days and I have a problem. I booked my flights before I had my Visa and I'm supposed to arrive in Spain on 7/Feb while the "From" date on my Visa is 8/Feb! (The visa was issued on 2/Feb)
It's a D type, 180 day visa for Spain and I'm Australian. I called the local consulate and they told me that it will be fine. I will just get 179 days instead of 180. But after researching online I can't find anything to confirm this. I can only seem to find contradictory information.
What do you think?
I'm not surprised that you are finding contradictory information: most parts of the Spanish civil service seem to make things up as they go along. You may find a jobsworth who says you can't come in, or you may find a realist who just waves you through. Sorry, that's not much help, but in my experience it is the reality of life in Spain.
Perhaps you need to look at it from the point of view of "What's the worst-case scenario?" I think in the worst case, you would have to hang around in the baggage hall airside until midnight.
Thanks for your response LittleHote.
My experience with the consulate has definitely been as you describe My only fear is that they'll turn me around and send me home! I do agree though, that your worst case scenario is more likely than mine. Hopefully I get a realist.
I find myself in a similar situation. I"m leaving for spain next week and will arrive about 12 hours before my student visa starts. Wondering if you were able to enter without any problems. Would love an update on how it turned out.
Yeah it was all fine. They didn't mention it. Good luck
Glad to hear that! Thank you for your response.
It should not be a problem.
I entered Sweden on my residence permit's expiration day once from Turkey.
It was 3O June, and also my flight was. Since when you apply for the visa/residence permit on the last day (online or maybe you posted couple days ago), it will give you the waiting time to wait the decision in that country. Since you're a student, you'd get it. The worst case scenario, they'd ask couple questions, if so probably they're bored.
I was able to enter without any problems or delays.
I have now the same problem I'm traveling from Kuwait to Spain on 29th of May 2013 but my visa starts on 30th of May 2013.
I am afraid that the Kuwaiti airport wont let my departure...and am not sure if Spain will let me enter either..what do u think?
tomorrow morning I'll check with the Spanish consult if they are able to change the date
