Travel Forums Asia Who had trouble getting Visa to China, post Olympics?

1st it was the Olympics... then things went back to normal, atleast in some countries, you can get a Visa. \

Then recently, thanks to the Asian games, hosted in Guanzhou, new policies were enacted...

My Swiss friend would say, once they had a taste of power, they will want more... Well, getting a Visa to the 1st world was never easy, so now China is joining the club. My 1st visa to China, I just went to the embassy and paid, no questions asked...

Now, you can't even get it through HK or Macau... for some countries. But some citizens of the 1st world can just buy it, 1 year, multiple entry, no questions asked. I can't even get 14 days.

Just when the world is suppose to be more global... as the Olympics theme states, "One world, One Dream", paradoxically these sporting events have made China more innaccesible.

Thank God, most of Latin America, don't require my people to have Visa... also Israel and Mongolia... and parts of Africa... very few places.

Hi Swept Away!

Chinese gov block the quota, hence it is more difficult to obtain visa. Since the olympics: this was the case during the 60' anniversary, maybe during/before shanghai expo too.
Don't get discouraged by that. Most of the time, it is fairly easy. You may also want to try to get it in another country. Practices by the embassy/consulate may largely vary from country to country. You may sill have the chance in another country.

See also a recent comment I added in relation to visas to china.

Hope you will manage to get into china.

Good luck!
