Hey - I leave in 7 weeks for Thailand then check into the Wake Up in Sydney 2 weeks later. Some people like the fact it's big others don't from what I have read, but guess everyone is different. I'm taking about £5000 and have a 1 year working visa :) xx

Thanks for the advise x

what's HI?

Don't get me wrong Wake Up is okay .. but the rooms are so cramped. HI (Hostelling International) you should be able to google them. The kitchen @ the rail station is awesome, but Central has a pool on the roof. It is about the same price as Wake up, and they are a big as wake up, but much more space in your room and adequate lockers. And the downside to 790 was that there is one elevator for 7 floors. All of these places have job postings on a bulletin too, and all normal hostel amenities. Oh ... for HI, if you are not a member is an extra $3 a day. If you went with WTC or Bunac .. you are a member automatically.

I'm starting in Cairns in Sept and have booked the Glebe Point YHA in Sydney for Xmas/NY. Super excited!!

I'm planning to explore some of the east coast for the first 4 weeks before trying to find work. Am taking the minimum required funds - so £3000-£3500ish. Wish I could save up more before I go but have just finished paying off a pretty sizeable overdraft! :( Am also spending a couple of weeks in SE Asia first :)

Have heard Oz is expensive, hoping my money lasts long enough to have some fun until I can find a job!

Hey - I'm going to Bangkok for a few nights then down to some of the national parks and islands. I have a tour booked for the first week, the rest if the time i'm just going to explore. Where about in Oz are you heading?

wow. Sounds good.

I'd love to go to Thailand to explore....

Meant to be cheaper than oz.

Not sure whether to go there first or on the way home...

I have no concrete plans really

Would like to find a travel buddy really.

I want to be in Sydney Xmas/NY I think!

Need to do some planning!!
