Were planning on going to south east asia backpacking later this year and were trying to find the cheapest method for getting there (and back again preferably)... does anyone know which airports and or airlines are the cheapest to fly to/from?
and advice would be greatly appreciated...
hi there. I have not left yet but have been looking into this myself so i can tell you what i know. London seems to be the cheapest airport to fly from and airasia often fly from stansted for very reasonable prices. I joined up to there website and they send you emails every time theres deals on so if you book at the right time you could find a great deal on flights. I also found skyscanner.net a good site and you can search for a whole month and if you click on indirect flights you can see whens cheapest to fly. The flight prices change every day though so the more flexible you can be with the dates the better chance you have of finding something cheap. Also if your under 26 or students sta give discounts so it could also be worth giving them a call. Im flying in august from london to bangkok and then singapore to auckland in jan for £520 one way and ive been talking to people to have paid that price just to fly to bangkok so definately shop around. Ive only been searching for one ways but im sure if you search you can find good deals on returns.Hope this helps you out a bit.
hey there! i havnt left yet either but planning to leave for japan in august and then travel south east asia for around 6-12 months! i am going through sta travel as they offer a great discount on flights for people under 26, but by all means shop around aswell!!
have fun and live life!
I also booked through STA as they give the discount if under 26 and they will also give you a 'student discount card' even if you arent a student...and this will help with discount while your out there
My ticket is from Gatwick- Bangkok with a stop over in Dubai and it was £520!
