Europe is quite safe for solo-travelling. Don't know when you plan to go, but during the summer months there are lots of other travellers, so it's not that you'd be completely alone. Most cities are generally safe, but as someone already mentioned, Barcelona is more or less known as 'pickpocket capital of Europe', so a little more attention there would be good. But still, things can happen everywhere :P

Actually not much to be concerned about :)

Which places did you have in mind to see?

I see.. Well i plan to travel around early Sept and see how it goes.. Maybe 1 mth plus or up to 2 mths plus.. Well, I had in mind right now will be Switzerland, France, Spain, and Greece.. but I heard Greece is way out of the Europe countries which is the furthest down and is kind of hard to access.. =(((

I haven't really come out with the detailed plan yet.. I have so many countries I want to go but I know I can't make it to all the countries in such a short amount of time..

Hi :)
I'm from Ireland and have been to many European countries with friends, family and alone. I've alway had an amazing time, especially while in London, Berlin and northern Italy (I'd recommend those places!) as longs you use your common sense there is absolutely nothing to fear! And of course Ireland is brilliant craic! :p
What countries did you want to visit? There are great value inter rail tickets that will get you around most of Europe and it's a very easy way to travel, and there are loads of different types to choose from!

Hi Deezie :D

HAHAHAHA.... sorry about that.. I'm sure Ireland is in my plan.. ;) It would be great if you can recommend some places I could visit down Ireland... I'm thinking of getting myself Euro Global Pass and probably hitch on people car << also not sure if it's a good idea. I might side-track a little just to see some awesome scenery. For now, is just everywhere.. =\

Hello mkey_gal,

Wow.. Sounds great that you are going to travel alone…. Really a quite good decision to travel the Europe countries… And there is no point in worrying for the lonely travel… Definitely you enjoy your long term trip.

Mean time I would be very happy if I come to know what are the places you are going to visit. I would like to provide you some tips about your safety. -snip-

Hope you are not missing ITALY to visit… Tuscany is a wonderful province of ITALY. I would be really happy if you visit Tuscany in ITALY. Tuscany is really a wonderful place for the travelers and where you can have nice climate. Landscapes would be great… And you can have a great wine tastings, cooking classes and other culture tours…

In Ireland I would recommend Waterford and Galway, they are great cities with loads of cultural and social activities! for the scenery I would recommend the commeragh mountain range in Waterford to, it's stunning up there!
I'm not sure about the continent but I wouldn't advise hitch hiking in Ireland. Not that we are super scary or anything but no one really does it and I wouldn't think you'd get many people pulling over to give you a lift. But the busses (bus eireann) in ireland are great, go everywhere and are really cheap!!
Scotland also has some beautiful scenery, along with northern Italy. I especially like Treviso in Italy, it's right beside the mountains and there are some great glacial swims up there, if you like swimming that is. The water is freezing but once you jump out it's so hot you'll want to get straight back in!

Hi, I believe my opinion on this forum will be sort of unpopular. I think it is always safer when you travel with a friend. I would not do it by myself. And this is not the matter of Europe that I perceive as safe, bad things can happen anywhere, but if they happen it is always good to have someone you can rely on especially if you are out of home.
