How tragic!

Do any of you know of anybody that was supposed to be at that Full Moon Party?

This is very tragic indeed, and with last months disaster so fresh in mind just about the last thing Thailand needed!

I have to say it doesn't really surprise me though. These speedboats are packed beyond their limits by a long shot I remember from when I was on Pha Ngan and we took one of these back to the mainland. Add on top of that the people on this boat had just been partying all night so were probably sleeping and/or not in a sober state....

Terrible!

My condolences to the victims. Like the article, and Sam said. It was probably due to overcrowding. This is why i dont take those mini boats. I always take the big ferrys from Don Sak pier to Nathon and back. One,because at least you'll get a seat and can walk around and stretch your legs. Two,because in bad weather these things are probably stronger than tiny boats. Three, because i hate being packed into an all Falang boat. I hate being seperated from Thais in that way. One year the weather was really bad on Samui, and even the big ferry's hull was being rammed by the waves. So i'd prefer to be on a big beast of a ferry than a crammed and small boat.
