I have a quick question about applying for a visa extention for one day. I will
fly to Auckland on the 30th of March but my visa is valid until the 29th. Is it
better to pay the penalty of 200 baht when I get to the airport or is it
cheaper to go to the Office of Immigration in Bangkok and pay for an extra
day in advance. I will be back in Bangkok on the 28th, so I have time to pay
them a visit. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
If you decide to visit the immigration police, are you aware that they have moved?

The penalty for overstay is severe in Thailand. You can be jailed, fined and deported. This is if the police or Imm. officials stop you before you hit the airport. Once you are at the airport, you just pay the overstay fine. 500 baht per day. Or you can pay the 500 baht fine at any Immigration office. That is what I suggest you do. Go over to Immigration, show them your passport and ticket out. Explain you will be overstaying by one day. Pay the 500 baht fine right there and now you are legal. Good luck.
