Hi Grace,

Thank you so much for your help.
I know august is not the best time, but it´s when my company allows me to take holidays.

And yes, if you don´t mind, I would like to explain to you my route, and maybe you can give any advice....

We arrive in Pekin the 9th, so we will stay there till the 10th at night. Then we catch a night train to Luoyang, in order to visit Shaolin temple and the famous groutes.
So 12 and 13/08 in Luoyang, and then we wanted to go by train to Xian, but someone has recommend me Piangyo, so I don´t know exactly how to do it. If going from Beijing to Piangyo on a night train, sleeping there and then to Luoyan by train, although we will loose half a day. And later from Luoyang to Xian.

If you don´t mind I can send you my planning and maybe you can give me any suggestion, because of course you will know better than anyone of us.

I would be really thankful if you can help me.

Kind regards,

Hi, Isabel,

It seems you have a very tough schedule, please make sure you can buy the train tickets with better conditions or you cannot have a good sleep in night trains.

Between Xian and Pingyao, if you interested in China history, i would like recommend Xian, but it really need a good guide to explain the history to you or you cannot feel the difference.
For Pingyao, it's really a peaceful village with both typical historical buildings and modern bar.
So the choice is really depends on your favorite.

Yes, perhaps you can send your planning to me and I can prvide my suggestions to you based on it.

Best regards,

18 days really isn't a lot of time to see all of China. Pingyao is about 1/2 way between Beijing and Xian, so if you stop at Taiyuan, you can get a bus to Pingyao (it's about 1.5 hours, I think).

Probably the best place to see the Yangtze is around Chongqing- cruises to the Three Gorges usually start from there. And if you like spicy Sichuan food, it's a good place to enjoy it. The city itself is fascinating: it's steep hills reminded me of San Fransisco.

Around Shanghai there are a couple of nearby cities worth visiting: Suzhou (a small city with many canals, similar to Venice) and Hangzhou, with its famous, romantic 'West Lake' (the setting of so many classical Chinese poems and stories).

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks madpoet,

That´s a good idea. I thought of catching the night train to Pingyao from Beijing,
and then the next night another night train to xian.
But maybe Taiyuan is a better choice, and from there the bus to Pingyao....

I will think of it.

Thanks again

Hi Isabel,
In the 18days for travel China, the best route is : beijing-- xian--guilin--shanghai, other places are not worth visiting.
I think those places are typical attractions to look, which repectively show you the history, moden, night life of China and beautiful nature as well .

That is really great! It is always pleasure to visit China. Frankly speaking you can see enough of china in 18 days. But I can understand you have to manage this in thins time period. You didn't mention here how you going to travel. As you have less time, you need to follow the aerial route. This will save your time and you can see most pf the places.
