Hi, I plan to to travel to new zealand to work for a while in december 2011 ( i understand this is the fruit picking season?).

I would like to travel by land as this is my first time travelling, i hope it'll give me a feel for "the road" and some experiences to remember along the way, my starting point is the uk and im currently saving for my trip but need to work out a rough target, ive read that the final leg from asia to australia is the hardest and i was thinking of doing this by a freight? ( is this the best way?) and doing the rest by train/bus through europe into russia then onto china, sigapore.

any help would be appreciated on this one, am i going in the right direction? or biting off more than i can chew, i obviously understand ill need visa's and things but my plans are very much in there early stages. anyone done this journey before i hear its a popular one? costs? things to see along the way?

Cheers

Casey

We leave on 17th April to travel overland from London to Darwin the last leg is ferry from Singapore you might be able to get freighter/ferry to NZ. Have you really looked at a map of your route and decided which way to go and how easy and costly the visas are going to be . Our trip is 26 weeks and is not cheap.
