Having no luck replicating this bug. I'm testing in Safari. Anything in particular bits of info that you can give? Did it take you a long time to write the entry (like over 20 minutes)? Did it seem to be processing the page for a long time? Or just load the blank page straight away? Really odd for it to end in a blank page actually.

My post took about 5 minutes to write and didn't include any links. The page processing was about the same length of time as any other, only a few seconds. It basically just loaded the blank reply box. It was reminiscent of the old reply box pages. Rather than showing the reply and 'you are only seeing a preview at the moment...' highlighted in light blue, it looked like the version prior to the upgrades. That's what prompted me to empty cache and cookies. (Though, I do that regularly anyway.)

It hasn't happened again since I posted the comment in this thread. But, not taking any chances and do a copy/paste as a temporary precaution. I've also done all my Safari upgrades on both the tower and laptop. (Forgot to mention, it did happen using the laptop too so not just a G4 glitch.)

On an upside, the html gobbltygook I was seeing in the toolbar cleared up.

Yay for that one.

Unfortunately those other answers don't help much. 5 minutes is not long enough to time out your session. A couple of seconds of processing doesn't sound like the browser got stalled on something. Argh.

Sam actually had a pretty similar issue not that long ago (mysteriously hasn't happened in a few weeks). It was also in Safari. I'll copy one of his findings here:

Quoting Sam I Am

"it usually happens on the forum pages. I have diagnosed though that it *always* corresponds with one other tab not loading. Almost like each tab is waiting for that one tab to load. Hitting refresh on the one page fixes the rest of the tabs. It seems to me like it might actually be a Safari bug. "

So next logical question - did you have any other tabs open that may have struggled to load content.

Of course, all this doesn't explain why the problem also might happen in IE9.

To be honest, I don't remember if I had another window open or not. I don't really use the tab function but open separate windows, placing them in the dock or over on the second monitor when not using them immediately. I do use the tab function on the laptop, though again, not sure if I had another tab open when it happened there. Sorry I can't be helpful there... :(

It has been working flawlessly the last couple of days.

Sorry guys, but it just did it to me again. Took less than 5 minutes to write my response, hit preview and got the empty reply box. Things had been working so well for the past few days too. :(

Oh, on Safari and I did not have any other tabs/windows open at the same time.

What version of Safari are you using? Sam reported a very similar thing in Safari a few weeks ago but hasn't had it since then (he thinks maybe due to an upgrade or reboot?)

I was using the laptop so Safari 5.0.3.

So yeah, I think upgrading to 5.0.4 is not a bad idea. But your problem sounds different though; you are getting a completely blank page (ie. it just is white and won't finish loading) or just the entry box is empty? The first is what I was getting, the second sounds more like what you are getting. Mind you, they might be related...

I was getting option #2. It was an empty reply box. Doing the upgrade to 5.0.4 now. With luck, that'll help.
