Where's the most interesting place you've ever spent your birthday?

not very adventurous or anything , normally in a local pub or restaurant with friends, the exceptions where in Italy and New York , the only difference was the people and the pub,.......

ummmm i'm going to have change that in future....

Hm. I spent it in Antwerp last year. Quiet, all by myself, wandering around town. Sheer bliss.

I know, I realised that I've spent all mine in Ireland as well... next yr I'll try to be somewhere a little more exotic!

I've spent every one of mine at home, too. I can't think of a single exception - not even a boring business trip!

the business ones are actually really bad, thats what happened with Italy, sitting in the Sao Paolo region in Rome surrounded by people I didn't really know and couldn't understand totally, they tried so hard and were really sweet but I felt totally lost....

I've always been at home too! Guess that's not too exciting now is it? Ideally though I'd spend it on a tropical island at an all-inclusive resort where I wouldn't need to do anything and would (temporarily) have no cares in the world...

My husband surprised me with an 11 day trip for my 50th birthday. The first 4 days were spent in Crystal River, Florida, snorkeling with the manatees. The rest was spent at the Sandals Resort in Antigua. We dove twice a day and enjoyed different spa treatments each afternoon. We arrived in time for their Carnaval - which celebrates the sugar cane harvest, though they don't grow cane anymore. I did not know where we were going and was only told to pack for warm weather. He was able to keep everything a surprise (even at the airports) until we reached San Juan, PR. We did not hear the boarding call and almost missed the flight to the island. The flight attendant gave it away when he asked if we were headed to Antigua because the plane was leaving - NOW!

It was a wonderful trip and one I'll never forget! Now, what to do when he turns 50...

Every single one has been in Montreal! Usually went out with friends for dinner and to a club/bar. This year I skipped going out...was working a lot and was just really tired. lol, I guess I'm getting old!

That's a nice thing of your hubbie to do isadora!

The ones I remember most fondly were with friends when we lived in the Solomon Islands. Birthdays are always more fun when you're a kid though.

I had my 26th b'day a few days ago which was rather enjoyable. Family came over for a bbq the night before and then my wife and I went out for dinner on the night of my b'day at a Lebanese restaurant. We had the banquet option on the menu and were completely stuffed with about 6 or 7 courses of fantastic food! Oh, and we opened a very nice bottle of Reserve Pinot Noir with dinner that we had been saving - it was the best bottle of wine ever :)
