The 'crisis' has been averted. An agreement was reached and though neither side is happy, it's a non-issue.

As a side note, Congress would have continued to be paid while every other government employee would have taken the hit. Gotta love American politics.

I do note that they only extended the government for one week, but that's only because the actual bill (that extends the government spending for another six months) has to be brought before all of Congress and approved and then signed off by the President. This will definitely be approved this week (before April 15th).

There is a new battle shaping up around the debt ceiling, but that doesn't take place until mid-May--and won't affect your trip.

As i corrected. The parks are shut down, but not shut. You can still enter, enjoy and play, but government employees and contractors during that time wouldn't get paid. But you didn't have to worry about not being able to go to the park.
