What have been the best places you've been to (or are aware of) for travel photography?? Local colour, beautiful scenery, vibrant festivals, great people all play a part.

For me a few spring to mind:
- St Petersburg
- Amsterdam (some nice weirdos hanging out around there ;))
- Barcelona
- New Zealand (although I haven't been, everyone comes back with beautiful scenic shots).

In the US, here are a few year round places for scenery that are my favs

- Everglades/ South Florida, great for bird shillouettes against a sunset, year round green
- Northern Califorina/ Oregon Coast, beautiful sunsets with waves crashing on the rocks
- Utah, red rock is always photogenic and during winter you can catch scenes dusted with snow

I think the most beautiful thing to photograph is to be found all over the world - people. But it takes some will and guts to photograph them, which i am determined to develop

You can find beautiful spots or landspaces or interesting moments to shoot at literally any place..

I was visiting Melnik (the smallest town in Bulgaria) last summer and I was of course prepared to shoot (see http://sitekreator.com/PHO - some wonderful pics I posted there..btw if you wish - register on this site and post too, it's free)

Just a few days later I was on my way to my grandparents when I saw an astonishing gipsy wedding, with perhaps a whole gipsy village gathered and dancing around the bride..you can't believe how much I was sorry for not taking the camera with me during this "usually boring" travel...

SOO - always have your camera ready in your pocket

I have to agree with dolphin in the way that Greece and her islands are a wonderful place for taking photographs. The country has fabulous colour and scenery and is very beautiful. Lanzarote has unusual scenery - and some far out parts look like you have stepped onto a lunar landscape and so some great 'unusual' photos can be taken there. Also the carribean, I have some fab pics of Barbados and Dominican Republic (and some not so fab ones after trying the local rum out there) I also love Hollands scenery - Amsterdam has unusual buildings and lovely canals which look really nice especially lit up at night and the tulip gardens out there are pretty also. France is lovely also with sunflower fields and winding roads. I can't really make up my mind as to the favourite country as the scenery is so different, yet so beautiful at the same time for each country. If I had to pick a fave country for photography though out of all places I have travelled so far then I'd go for Luxembourg as it has lovely forests and is very scenic.

I think Chile has to be my favourite photography destination. Patagonia and the Atacama are just amazing for landscape shots.

A country that has it all is South Africa.
Great wildlife opportunities for pics. Wild rivers and waterfalls galore and unique foliage from cacti to tropicals. :)
Wonderful coastline for beach and landscape photos.
In July - August great whale-dolphin-shark photos from shore or boat.
Drakensberg mountains the escarpment for great landscapes and then theres the Karoo and Kalahari for more desert scenery.
Colorful people from the different ethnic groups and also so many festivals year round.
The wine growing regions around Cape Town and the list goes on and on. :)

you will not waste your time to shoot for good pictures when you are on any street in India, focus on any subject of your interest you will find it,especially if you are in the crowded area .
