Well I had originally planned on going to New Zealand this summer. Since then things have fallen through and now have an open option ahead of me. Where to go? I have been planning on going somehwere so I WILL go somewhere....maybe not for 2 months like I had planned..but for a couple weeks at least. I want to see some great sites, and meet fun people (preferrably that I can communicate with knowing only English and a little French) that have a great night life too. I dont know too much about Brazil, but I heard it is amazing. Any input appreciated. This is gonna kinda be the beginning of my travel experiences so I want to make sure I start on the right foot :)

Oh yeah just wanted to add, the ticket will most likely be very cheap so that is not an matter where I go. I figure I will easily have $1000 US for the trip...maybe more but I will plan around that amount for simplicity. I assume that will have a large bearing on where I go. Again thanks.

March and April is beggining of low season in Brazil so prices start to drop but the weather is still pleasant.

You are likely to arrive in Rio or São Paulo so from there you can go up to the NOrtheast coast ( Salvador, Recife, Natal, Fortaleza, etc) or go down ( Ilha Grande , Paraty, Foz do Iguaçu, Florianópolis, etc).

Worth to see is also BONITO ( with Pantanal ), Brasília, Chapada doa Veadeiaros ( for Trekking).

It is huge country so there is a lot to see. Consider purchasing the Brazil Airpass because internal flights are really expensive. Info at

Are you still thinking ? I live here, I love this country, and I think it´s really amazing.
Is a complex but interesting country. The regions here are very different, because the North and notheast(where a I live) is very hot and the South is very cold. The northeast is where the beautiful beaches and parties are. January is the best month because is summer here, and there a lot of parties like Salvador Summer Music Festival,in Bahia, that is a big event here in Brazil. And the most popular partie in the world, the Carnival, happens here in Bahia. And the people here is very friendly. I think you´ll enjoy your trip.
Good Luck!
