I am in the research phase of assembling a honeymoon trip for early next year. The goal is to visit some beautiful places, with the general theme of exotic/beautiful island scenery, attempting to incorporate places that we may not otherwise have the chance to visit for either cost or distance reasons.
Following is the RTW itinerary that I have in mind as the basic bones:
IAD -> MIA -> SCL -> IPC -> PPT -> RAR -> AKL -> BNE (or SYD or MEL) -> SIN (or alternative hub) -> MLE -> SEZ -> IAD
Tahiti (Bora Bora and Moorea), Maldives, and Seychelles seem to be consensus picks. Cook Islands seem to make some of the lists as well. I'm fascinated with the idea of incorporating Easter Island but that may only further complicate some difficult routing (making this work appears to be a real challenge as there is no single network that seems to hit all of these places). I'm also leaving out places like Fiji and Palau that I have heard are wonderful (especially lots of feedback on the latter).
I have the distinct feeling I am already trying to overdo it considering we have roughly a month to a month and a half for this journey.
I'm hoping to gather some input:
1. To make the itinerary more streamlined -- i.e., to help me pick my must-have spots, and
2. To help identify a routing that would actually be feasible on an RTW type of itinerary (e.g., zero or at least minimal backtracking).
Thank you kindly in advance for your help!
