Hey Jo,

I personally only know GAP which I think is an IT recruitment agency. But I would try and google it. Go to www.google.com.au and search for pages from Australia only.

Cheers,
Catb

I wouldn't bother emailing them your CV before you leave. Most employment agencies are run in such an unprofessional, disorganised manner that you can email it to them 5 minutes before and interview and they'll still want to see your hardcopy.

i agree james! employment agencies are the biggest waste of time. i spent weeks going round all of them in perth and heard nothing in return. the best thing, i found is pick up the local paper on the days the jobs are published and phone every one of them that is even remotely of relevance. eventual someone will be bright enough to realise that a 3month restriction isnt a valid reason for not giving you a casual job! oh and if anyone is really skint - how are you at picking fruit?

Hi Mr Fogg. The best way to deal with employment agencies is to email them your resume (only because they'll ask for it to be emailed), then turn up with a hard copy of it, fill in their stupid forms at reception, and then be prepared to justify past career decisions to some dumb chick-with-attitude about 5 years out of school.

Then, phone them everyday after the interview and hassle the crap out of them for the job. They will no you are keen if you keep ringing. If they don't hear from you they assume you have found a job elsewhere.

Cox Purtell have been pretty good and World Wide Workers are rubbish and wouldnt know their ass from their elbow. The agencies over here are not run in the same way as back home in the UK I dont get it myself its just pot luck. Hayes are also pretty good. It just depends what jobs they have in at the time as to whether they'll let you even register, they wont register you and keep you on file.
They are pretty rubbish to be honest, you're best off getting the TNT magazine and British Balls magazine when you arrive as they are pretty good. Also Travellers Contact POint on George Street are helpful as well as they have a board with recent job postings on it.
Hope this helps
