HEY TP, I'M WRITING FROM SOUTH AMERCA... THIS IS A MSG TO THE EUROPEAN OR BEENTOEUROPE COMMUNITY!!!
I'M PLANNING MY FIRST TRIP TO EUROPE (APRIL 05) AND THOUGH I HAVE A ROUGH ITINERARY, I'D LIKE SOME ADVISE...
I'LL BE VISITING FRIENDS IN SPAIN, SWITZERLAND, VIENNA AND ITALY. NOW THE Q: ANYBODY FEEL LIKE RECOMMENDING A CITY/TOWN/COUNTRY OFF THE TOURIST CIRCUIT WORTH VISITING, IE, BESIDES THE USUAL. AND THERE'S ONE MORE CHAR I NEED IT TO COMPLY WITH --> NOT EXPENSIVE;) THAT MEANS FINDING ACCOMMODATION 4 LESS THAN 20US$

THANKSIN ADVANCE 4 UR ADVISE,
DANIELA

Slovenia is stunning, Croatia only marginally less so, and both are relatively cheapĀ“(compared to W Europe) although becoming increasingly popular and expensive. The Bled/Bohinj and Postinj (sp?) caves area of Slovenia plus the Croatian coast crowned with Dubrovnik are absolutely wonderful. Also the would work quite well with your itinerary, as you can go Vienna - Slovenia - Italy or Vienna - Slovenia - Croatia - boat to Italy very easily.

More off the beaten track, Romania (especially Transylvania area), Bulgaria, Serbia and Bosnia are all wonderfully cheap and increadibly rewarding. Few tourists, and especially outside of the "major" tourist spots, the locals are always incredibly friendly and welcoming.

If you can manage, the Ukraine is a huge if brilliant country. Lvov and Kiev are hugely underrated and still very cheap, although Visa hassles - possibly to change with the new government - can make it harder to get into and the hassle factor high.

A coincidence; I was going to recommend Lake Bled also.

Thanks 4 that, i've been checking out the places u mentions & they r amazing... tough i'll have to "cancel" some of my destinations, i think i'll be worth it. The main problem & reason i'd have to cancel is that i only have 45/50 days:(, and then I have to come back to work 4 my next holidays

A couple of Q's. What is the transportantion system in those countries like?
Can u give me more details on the boat trip to Italy? (estimate cost and duration of trip) liked the idea vmuch

Did you thought about Belgium and Holland? This is not too far from Paris, London,... You can see a bit of Belgium in 3 days, transportation is excellent and easy to use.

danielita:

the trip from the slovene coast to (let's say Venice) via boat is 1.5 hrs and it costs... something like 20eur

[ Edit: Sorry, no promotions please... ]

Hi danielita, I'm writing from Italy, as you're thinking to go on holiday for 45/50 days, have you ever thought about home hospitality? It's a new way of travelling and it's going very well in Italy.
Let's sgumma!!! (It's a new international world I've learned in Internet, it means I think let home exchange or hospitality exchange, something like that!!!) hope to help you.
Beth
