Hey I'm 27 so even older :( I sort of felt the same when I decided to go travelling but I was in a very different place 7years ago, more settled down and not ready and I dont want the fact I'm a little older to stop me doing something I'm now ready to do and will regret if I don't!! Also the more I speak to people the more I realise there's quite a few
Of us and not just 20year olds!! :) anyway il prob be there from start to mid oct for a month or so before heading to Sydney so let me know if u wanna meet up?? xx

Hello Katie and Suzy

So glad you both agree with me and nice to know that there are some fellow oldies!!

My name's Nadia by the way and I live in London.

As of yet I have no real plans as to what I want to do when i'm there. I definitely want to travel around the country, but would also like to set up base for a bit in either Melbourne or Sydney.

I'd also like to do things a bit differently. Obviously I wanna do the usual touristy things, but I also want to get away from the typical backpackers scene for a bit and meet and hang out with people who actually live there!

Would love to meet up wth you both if we're in Melbourne at the same time.

Suzy, where abouts in London do you live?

Hey Katie

Got your friend request on fb, thank you. (yours too Suzy, fellow North London girl!)

Sounds like we may be in Melbourne at the same time, so would be great to keep in touch and meet up!

I too have no real plans as of yet - I can't work out if I wanna settle in Melbourne for a bit or start travelling straight away. I was thinking of going to Sydney for xmas and nye too, but have visions of every other british backpacker in the world being there, which is something I want to avoid as much as possible! But maybe i'm wrong. What made you decide to go to Sydney? xx

Yep deffo, would be happy to meet up and see some friendly faces!!

I actually haven't still booked my flights as I'm still undecided a little whether to go to cairns first and travel down to Sydney for Xmas and NYE or go to Melbourne and work for a bit first!!!

I know what you mean About everyone being in Sydney for Xmas but I think it will be a good experience, I was supposed to go last year and didn't so it was something I really wanted to do!!

Have you booked flights?? Xx

Katie: if you're in Australia for a year, I'd start in Melbourne, since December through March is the wet season up north, and November already unpleasantly humid. So stay south for the first six months, and then head north. Alternatively, if you're only staying six months or so, start in Cairns and head south relatively swiftly, before the wet season starts in earnest.

Thank you for that info Sander, really useful advise as I was also debating where to start. Will definitely be sticking to my original plan and start in Melbourne.

I'm in the same position as you Katie, haven't booked my flights yet, am hoping to do it by the end of next week. I think i'm gonna stop-over in Singapore for a couple of days to break the journey up. Who are you thinking of booking your flights through?

I bet you can't wait to get there is you've been waiting since last year to go! x
