I'm Joe from Malaysia, as i'm 1st time traveling solo to Melbourne on end of August till begin fo September.

Anyone one around at this time? Maybe we could visit Great Ocean Road, philip island and ect together.

Even my Hostel havnt been selected yet. But think of staying at YHA hostel. is it the best location?

Just joined this site, the thread looks great! Ha. Me and my mate are heading to melbourne sept 6th! From Newcastle (eng not aus)
Were gunna find work there till Xmas then Sydney new year then get a campervan early jan and spend what we've saved up and down the east coast before settling down again, maybe in brispane or Somewere like that. Looks like there's some similar plans with most of you.

Hey everyone, I have flights booked for melbourne on 4th July from london. I'm 22 from chester UK, travelling alone after my partner dropped out a couple of weeks ago.

My rough plan is to stay in Melbourne for a few months and try and get a job to fund my travelling, hopefully enough work so i can get 2nd year visa. or if theres no work there then go to Sydney.

I just cant wait to go now tho

i havnt heard much about the place to be honest but from what i see on websites and places like this it sounds really good and loads seem to be going! do you have any plans when you get there? where youre staying or getting work etc.
i think we want to go city center for our first week, party the weekend and hand out cv's everywhere we can, the head to the beach and chill and hopefully let the job offers roll in lol.
were looking at going to Base@ st.kildas it looks really good. x

Looking to stay at base too for the first three nights when we arrive out there! Looking to book soon My cousin stayed there when he first arrived in Melbourne and he said it was the best hostel he stayed in in all his time in Oz!
Plan is to get a job pretty much first thing! Melbourne is the sporting city of Oz so I'm really hoping to go to a few sporting events when I'm out there! The Australian Open is top of my list if I'm still in Melbourne come January!
Really want to do the Great Ocean Road wouldn't mind working on the beach! Hoping to settle in Melbourne then work my way up Oz! Job wise wouldn't mind working in coffee shops and doing casual work like that but I have also looked into working at sporting events! As over the summer a lot is on! Hoping that going at the end of September will give me more of a chance of getting a job before all the travellers arrive for summer!
You will have to keep in touch! Tell me the places where me n Laura need to go and where to find work! Maybe get a drink Im so excited!!! How much you hoping to go out with? x

ive heard really good things about base so will defo be going there i think, i wanna get it sorted soon. the great ocean road is defo a part of my plan. i think were gunna buy a cheap car when we get jobs and do it.
we plan on getting the job we do here over there, but if its difficult to get we will work anywere, do anything.

im looking to take at least £4000, hopefully more, but to be honest could be less after ive bought, ins, backpack and whatever stuff i wanna take lol. although i here clothes are dead cheap over there, the likes of t-shirts n shorts n what not.
i just wannna take enough so that i can carry on saving when i get a job out there and spend what ive got just travelling in a campervan for 2-3 month over the summer....

Aiming to go out with just over 4 grand! Wanted it to be more like 5 but need to buy loads of new clothes etc before I go out! Going to struggle to fit everything in a back pack. I don't know how to pack light going to have to try and learn and quick! What do you work as over here? This whole saving business is ruining my social life ha! Out in town this weekend though! It is going to be worth it in the end though! x

If jobs are a bit scarce there's adelaide and sydney quite close, my godmother lives in sydney so hopefully I can live with her for a bit if i get stuck in melbourne haha. I should still be around melbourne at least till october cos one of my fave german bands are playing and I really want to go to that concert. I want to try get any job I can get straight away to find my feet, havent looked at hostels yet, should probably do that soon haha.
