Hi everyone, need some quick advice. My best friend and I are graduating from high school in June and want to take a trip... money isn't an issue but the destination is! Our parents would prefer if we were somewhat close (no Europe... US, Caribbean, Mexico, etc) Does anyone know of any desirable locations? We need a location that is fun, good for a younger crowd, but safety is a big priority. We would like somewhere that we wouldn't need a car and definately has a great beach!! Any help would be appreciated...

Caroline,

You can't drink liquor yet, and renting a car is difficult, so this would imply that the best place to go would be a self-contained resort.

The first places that come to mind (with the safety thing in mind) are the Disney resorts in Orlando, Florida. Second would be the All-Inclusive Resorts either in the Cancun or Cabo San Lucas vicinity.

Other possibilities are Southern California hotels near Huntington Beach/Newport Beach/Santa Monica/Laguna Beach or Mission Bay in San Diego--though the beaches are not as fantastic as at the other places. Also, Las Vegas is great, but really best once you are 21 (too hot in the summertime, also).

P.S. Don't knock Disney as too much for kids--it has a lot of activities for teens, young adults, and older adults, too. The public transportation system there linking together the 3 amusement parks, 4 beach resorts, Paradise Island, and 10 hotel resorts or so is the best. Close by in Orlando is Sea World and Universal Studios Florida.

Enjoy

Come to NZ!
Safe!
No snakes!
No handguns!
Great beaches - Dec to March is summer.
Yes there are young people here!
Drink alcohol - no problems as long as you are 18 with an id
Beaches - for you that must be Mount Manganui
This is where all the young people handout

Babes on the Beach
Great Bars etc
A luxury hotel on the beach will cost about$240 per night but that is the room rate.( I should say 1 bedroom apartment with kitchen ) You can fly in via Auckland then take a taxi. You can walk pretty well everywhere.

We stayed at the Oceanside Resort - fanastic

It takes 13hours to fly here from the USA

go on treat yourself!

cheers

Gotta go with Mexico. I went 2 Cancun for Spring Break. That was wild! If you are looking for nightlife and a great beach,... go with Cancun. If you are looking an ok beach with a crazy nightlife..checkout cabo san lucas. My regards to squid row!! Calcruzer is right. Go with an all inclusive. It will be cheaper in the long run.

I would have to say Solaris All inclusive in Mexico, 5 star resort and very safe, evrything you need is in walking distance. Awsome beaches too.
