Hi All,

me and my gf are currently travelling the world and will be in Columbia in a few months time...whilst e are there it is her birthday and we want to go to the island of san andres as we have heard the beaches are like paradise on earth.

We would be really grateful if anyone could reccommend a nice resort, ideally an all inclusive. we are travelling but want to splash out for a week so want a really nice resort but we seem to only find the same ones online.

on a seperate note, does anyone have any reccommendations for nice beach areas along the carribean coast of columbia, as we want to visit a few.

Cheers
:)

Hi Antonio,

There is still a relatively unknown gem of Colombia: Capurgana
Capurgana is at the border with Panaman and at the edge of the Darian Gap.
You can get there by speed boat (one way US$30, sit on the back!) from Turbo.
From Capurgana you can trek over or take small boat to Sapzurro, which we found even more beautiful. Both have resorts too if you want to get spoiled.
From Sapzurro, climb over to Panama side (custom will just check you passport but will not stamp it) to get to Playa de Miel. It is jaw-droppingly beautiful!

A fellow traveller also talked about Tolu/San Bernado islands that sound really good too!

Enjoy Colombia!

that good decision if you want to enjoy the wonderful thing about san andres islands have many choices, and good hotels, the Hotel Cocoplum, the hotel sunset and more even cheaper.

Hi guys,
thanks for the replies and kich i will look into san bernado. do any of these places have all inclusive resorts that are 4-5 star? i have seen a few online but none look particularly amazing. as it is for my gf bday i want to go to an incredible place but not sure if any of the accommodation on these amazing looking islands looks that brill. Also do you know if i am better booking online or waitingf until im in columbia and going to a travel agent there?

Hi Antonio,

I don't know san bernando - i just saw it in the thread. Maybe better to send a private message to "hanaldinho" - who commented to this thread.

I never booked a resort so i can't help you with that. But if you find one - i would guess it is better to contact them directly to see what rate they'd quote and compare it with an agent's too.

Have a nice stay in Colombia!

I've been to Tolu and Las Islas de San Bernardo-it was fine but a tad downmarket- San Andres sounds more like what you're looking for.

Hola! I commented about Las Islas de San Bernardo in another thread. I mentioned that Tolu wasn't the prettiest of places, yeah maybe it was a bit like Colombia's version of Blackpool :) (no offence to anyone from Blackpool!), I only stayed here to get to the San Bernado Islands which I did find really beautiful, especially Mucura. I think it depends on what you are looking for, what I liked about the San Bernardo Islands, and also Tolu was the lack of other foreigners and really friendly and laid back Colombians. I loved the experience of staying in a hut and being forced to practice my not very good, but well-intentioned Spanglish.

i've never been to San Andres but if you want a plush resort maybe this is where you should go. Colombia is a beautiful country, have fun!
